Privacy Policy

MunchEase ("MunchEase," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by MunchEase LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the MunchEase mobile app and website (together, the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name.
• Profile and goal data. During onboarding and in settings you may provide details such as age, sex, height, weight, activity level, dietary preferences, and your nutrition goals. We use this to calculate and track your macro targets.
• Content you create. The meals and foods you log, custom recipes you save, weekly menus, shopping lists, water intake, and similar entries.
• Voice and photo input. If you log a meal by voice, your speech is transcribed using your device's built-in speech recognition (provided by Apple or Google), subject to their privacy policies. If you scan a menu or nutrition label, the photo you capture or upload is sent to our AI provider for analysis (see "AI Processing" below). We do not retain these photos after processing.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data. Basic information about how you interact with the app (for example, features used and actions taken) to operate and improve the Service. You can disable in-app analytics at any time in Settings.
• Device information. Device type, operating system version, and similar technical data needed to deliver and troubleshoot the Service.

Subscription information

• Purchase data. If you subscribe to MunchEase Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store and managed via our subscription provider, RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (active, expired, etc.) but never receive or store your payment card or full billing details — those are handled solely by Apple.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and personalize the Service, including calculating your macros and tracking your progress.
• Sync your data securely across your devices.
• Estimate the nutrition of meals you describe by text, voice, or photo.
• Manage your account, subscription, and access to Pro features.
• Send you optional reminders and notifications you have enabled (these are scheduled on your device).
• Diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your health or nutrition data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

3. AI Processing

To estimate nutrition and power features like AI meal logging, AI Swaps, the Recipe Finder, and menu/label scanning, we send the relevant text or image you submit to our AI provider, Anthropic (the Claude API), through our secure server. This data is used only to generate your result and is not used to train AI models. AI-generated nutrition figures are estimates and may not be exact — see our Terms of Service and the health disclaimer there.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service, and only as needed to provide it:

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication; stores your account, profile, and logged data.
• Anthropic — processes meal text and images to generate nutrition estimates.
• RevenueCat — manages subscription status and entitlements.
• Apple — processes App Store purchases and subscriptions.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety, and security of MunchEase or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice where required). We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the app; this permanently removes your account and associated data from our systems. You can also export your data from Profile → Export My Data. We may retain limited information where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and export. Export your data from within the app at any time.
• Correction. Update your profile and goals in Settings.
• Deletion. Delete your account and data from within the app.
• Analytics. Turn off in-app analytics in Settings.
• Notifications. Manage or disable reminders in Settings or your device settings.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at team@munchease.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

MunchEase is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. You must be at least 13 years old (and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or have parental consent) to use the Service. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

MunchEase is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be processed and stored in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
